COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 28,1997 PSA#1896National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, PSCS, 6120
Executive Blvd, Eps/room 638, Bethesda, MD 20892-7227 66 -- SPECTRAL BIO-IMAGING SYSTEM FOR SKY SOL RFQ70127-NS DUE 081297
POC Patricia Haun, Contracting Officer 301-496-8613 The National Cancer
Institute (NCI) proposes to procure a High Sensitivity "Turnkey"
Spectral Bio-Imaging System for SKY (Spectral Karyotyping) from Applied
Spectral Imaging (ASI) Inc., 2120 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92009.
The NCI Medicine Branch plans to use this system in a collaborative
research project with the National Human Genome Research Institute
(NHGRI), who's investigator is one of the inventors of the SKY process
and has established a distinct technology for this simultaneous
display of all human chromosome in different colors. It is believed
that methodology of cytogenetic analysis is the most refined currently
achievable. The ASI Spectra Cube system has been specifically designed
for the kind of high resolution spectral karyotyping required for this
collaborative project and its effectiveness and versatility has been
documented in numerous publications from one of NHGRI's laboratories.
It is believed that the ASI Spectral Imaging System is the only system
which can meet the needs ofthe Government. The system offers the most
sophisticated, proprietary Spectra Cube technology for applications
requireing high sensitivity and dynamic range, the ability to adjust
fluorescent labels and imaging specifications to allow for high
throughout cloning of multiple aberrations simultaneously,
acousto-optical tunable filters, variable spectral resolution, broad
spectral bandwidth, and independence from polarization. This system is
anexact duplicate of the system in NHGRI and compatiblity with that
existing technology is imperative as the ability to use both systems to
analyze samples without having to make adjustment or attempt to correct
any discontinuity between systems. This notice of intent is not a
request for competitive proposals, however, if any interested party who
believes they have a system which can meet the above requirements, may
submit a statementof capabilities and a detailed description of the
machines capabilities. Information furnished shall be iin sufficient
detail, to perform a proper evaluation of their ability to meet the
Government's requirements. Capability statements must be received
within 20 days of the publicatioon of this notice. See Note 22. (0205) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0490 19970728\66-0020.SOL)
