business concerns will be accepted for Jefferson Drive Project
PLH-NACC 501(2), in Washington, D.C. The project consists of the
reconstruction of Jefferson Drive between 3rd and 14th Streets and the
rehabilitation of 12th Street between Jefferson Drive and Independence
Avenue, including drainage improvements, hot ashpalt concrete pavement,
sidewalk and curb installation, and other miscellaneous work. Principal
items of work and approximate quantities are as follows: Hot Asphalt
Concrete Pavement, Class A, Grading D, 2,900 TON; Asphalt pavement
milling, 19,500 SQYD; Plain portland cement concrete pavement, 9-inch
depth, 1,250 SQYD; 18-inch pipe culvert, 3,325 LNFT; Catch basin, Type
1, 33 EACH; Stone curb, Type 1, 11,100 LNFT; Exposed aggregate
concrete sidewalk, 10,550 SQYD. The project is expected to fall within
the price range of $1,000,000 to $2,500,000. Invitation for Bids No.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation
(DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization has
bonding programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged
business enterprises in acquiring short-term capital and bonding
assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available
under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates
up to $500,000 to provide accounts receivable financing. The DOT
Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance
and payment bonds up to $1,000,000 per contract. DOT provides an 80
percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. For
