CONNECTION TO THE DUTCH PUBLIC SWITCHED TELEPHONE NETWORK The following
notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6.

Terminal Equipment; Technical Regulations for Connection to the Dutch
Public Switched Telephone Network (available in English, 84 pages). 6.
Description of content: The draft comprises technical regulations for
single and multiple systems relating to: repose state; call detection;
replying and terminating; holdingstate; dialing; connecting; "calling
line identification"; analogue and digital signalling; speech
transmission, including: (a) cordless telephones CTO, CT1, CT2; (b)
cordless telephone DECT, coupling with the PSTR, insofar as not covered
by CTR 10 and CTR 11; "handfree" telephones and "handsets". 7.
Objective and rationale: The existing technical regulations mainly date
back to 1988. The draft provides for combining all existing technical
regulations in one document. This draft is also in line with the new
European standards for terminal equipment, such as pr-TBR 21, I-ETS 300
677 and I-ETS 300 480. 8. Relevant documents: Directive 91/263/EEC,
Telecommunications Provisions Act, Terminal Equipment Declaration. 9.
Proposed date of adoption: 28 July 1997; Proposed date of entry into
force: 28 July 1997. 10. Final date for comments: 14 July 1997. 11.
