issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of ADAL CHILD
DEVELOPMENT CENTER, ELLSWORTH AFB, SD. Bids will be opened on or about
04 September 1997. This solicitation is unrestricted and open to both
large and small business participation. Contractors interested in
inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact the Ellsworth
AFB Resident Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, P.O. Box 669, Bldg

923-2558. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) The
project consists of a 10,000 SF alteration/renovation to an existing
one story Child Development Center and 9,000 SF of new construction as
an addition to the existing. Site work includes grading, paving,
fenced outdoor playground areas, lawn and landscaping, playground
equipment, sidewalks, site utilities, exterior lighting, and various
other site improvements. The existing building interior will be gutted
and renovated and a new standing seam metal roof and substructure are
to be constructed. New construction for the addition will consist of
rigid steel framing with steel columns, beams, and joists. The exterior
finish consists of face brick and concrete masonry units with stucco on
steel stud back-up with standing seam metal roofing. Interior
non-bearing walls for the entire building are constructed of gypsum
wallboard on steel stud framing. Finishes include carpet, ceramic tile,
painting, resilient flooring, and acoustical ceiling tile. Mechanical
work will consist of general plumbing, HVAC, Direct Digital Controls
with EMCS, and a wet pipe sprinkler system for fire protection. Various
pieces of Kitchen equipment are required for this project and will be
contractor furnished/contractor installed. Electrical work consists of
general type electrical building work, in addition, a closed circuit
television system, an electronic entry control system, an intercom
system, and a telephone system will be required. The estimated
construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000.
Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract.
The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after
notice to proceed and complete the work 540 calendar days after receipt
of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated
damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed.
Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and
specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be
provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of
Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications
will not be provided in a printed hard copy format. Contractors may
