NSN: 1005-01-433-8405, Part Number 12524520, The item to procure is a Pre-Production Engineering Effort for the 25mm Chromed Barrel for use on the M242 Automatic Gun. A performance-type scope of work has been developed. This scope requires interface characteristics to be maintained while allowing maximum design freedom consistent with performance requirements. The major evaluation characteristic in award of this PPE effort will be satisfactory production experience in manufacture of chromed gun barrels with a bore diameter of around 25mm. Productioon experience, of substantial quantities of barrels, as opposed to small lot manufacturing, is necessary. Experience with the chrome process and bore diameter should be similar to the current requirement to assure expertise in manufacture of similar barrels. Because of the performance-type scope of work, experience in manufacture of barrels with similar design, ammunition and performance characteristics is moresignificant than other production experience. ANSI/ISO/ASQC Q9002 or equivalent is required. All or a part of this action is an unfunded FY97 requirement. McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems proprietary restriction applies. FOB is Origin.
