The following notification is being circulated in accordance with

relates to the requirements which are imposed on the measuring
instruments used by the police during traffic surveillance. 5. Title,

The Regulation requires that prior to their being used by the police a
certificate of an examination must have been issued by the Netherlands
Measuring Institute NMI N.V., evidencing that the measuring instruments
mentioned hereinafter satisfy the requirements stated in the annex to
the Regulation: Speed check meters; braking deceleration meters; wheel
load meters. 7. Objective and rationale: The police must be able
within the framework of road safety to carry out checks in respect of
which it is important that the measurements obtained provide sufficient
evidence within the scope of criminal law enforcement. This Regulation
is based on Article 14 of the Regional Police Forces Management
