Langley AFB, stricklb@accons.langley.af.mil. The USAF is conducting
market research to find a source to provide and construct a fixed
mooring system compatible to a 420,000 cubic ft aerostat and L88-A
radar system. This fixed mooring system will replace the winch trucks
currently in use at five radar sites. This fixed mooring system will be
able to operate minimally on a 215ft radius pad and support dual
operations at our site in Cudjoe Key FL. This system shall be able to
weathervane 360 degrees without overhanging the prepared surface of the
Cudjoe Key pad and infringing upon the wetland areas surrounding the
site. The aerostat s overall length is 208.5 ft and the hull diameter
69.5 ft. If a source is found, the USAF is proposing to award a
contract to procure up to six fixed mooring systems over a seven year
period. All inputs to this market research should be provided to the
contracting officer no later than 11 Aug 97. (0192) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0062 19970715\K-0001.SOL)
