J -- TECHNICAL SUPPORT SERVICES TO REPOWER BUSES SOL N47408-97-Q-1504 DUE 081497 POC Contract Specialist, NAOMI MELENDEZ, 805-982-5095 The navy has a requirement for technical support services to repower two (2) Navistar Model 3800 diesel buses with new compressed natural gas (CNG) engines, to train government personnel on the operation and maintenance of the CNG vehicles, and to provide technical data. The Navys objective in repowering is to install a cleaner burning engine. The power and torque ratings of the CNG engine shall meet or exceed the ratings of the original diesel engine. Vehicles shall be picked up and returned to government installations at various locations. The contractors facility shall be located within 350 miles of Port Hueneme, California. Estimated delivery schedule is 270 days. Selection criteria for the best value procurement are past performance for the same or similar work, technical understanding, and cost.
