69 -- COTS SOFTWARE FOR THE PURPOSES OF TRAINING INDIVIDUALS IN A GROCERY STORE POC Contract Specialist, Wendy Johnson (703) 767-1177; Contracting Officer, Patrick Kennedy The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA), which runs the grocery stores on military bases worldwide, is interested in commercial off-the-shelf software (COTS) that will use networked Windows microcomputers to train personnel in grocery store jobs, assess the resulting competencies, and supply formatted individual training records to a central archive. Jobs to be trained include but are not limited to cashier; store sanitation; departmental operations such as deli, bakery, produce, meat, and grocery; secuirty and safety including OSHA compliance; human resources administration; and computer security, usage and administration. Desired COTS functions include identifying respondents, identifying eligibility for a particular course, administering course to respondent, accomplishing secure test administration, safeguarding test results forwarding test and respondent information to a remote data base. Procuts must be capable of instructing the job as received off-the-shelf. However, company ability to revise and update products is also of interest. If interested, please submit the following in 15 days after publication of this information: Company name, product name(s) store position(s) taught by the product(s) functions performed in identifying the respondent, functions performed in teaching the position (such as video instruction of job subfunction, test on subfunction, evaluation of performance on test, selection of required reinstruction, and time of adequate performance), and functions performed in accomplishment of and protecting the record of secure test administration. In addition, specify the platform and communication requirements for using the product. Commercial product brochure(s), if available, should accompany the submission. Also, if desired, submit production capability in the area of computer based training. Cover curriculum development, video production/editing as applied to process capture or simulation, capability to incorporate changed presentations, tests, or sequencing into currently active versions, and capability to produce multiple copies of new versions.
