Phone (703)604-6100 The Department of the Navy is formulating
requirements for the development and production of an Optical Sensor
Converter (OSC) upgrade to replace the SU-164/AAR-47 for the AN/AAR-47
Missile Warning Set (MWS) to improve high temperature performance;
improve detection sensitivity; impose a maximum sensitivity; reduce
saturation effects in OSC recovery time; and update, document, and test
software to support this OSC. The Navy is also considering
incorporation of multi-sensor/system functions (i.e. laser warning)
into the production AN/AAR-47 MWS. The purpose of this Request for
Information (RFI) is to solicit information that will aid the Navy in
formulating a best value approach to meet the requirement by balancing
cost, performance, schedule and risk. Interested sources are invited
to review the RFI information package and provide responses. The RFI
includes some classified (SECRET) information. Interested parties may
fax a written request to the Contracting Officer, Naval Air Systems
Command, AIR-2.2.2.1.3, 1421 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Arlington, VA
22243-5120, fax number (703) 604-3063. Point of contact for additional
information will be Contract Specialist Jeanette Platt at (703)
604-6100, extension 3510. All written requests for the information
package must include a cleared address to which SECRET information can
be mailed, an address for unclassified mail and the name and telephone
number of a cleared point of contact. Responses will not be considered
as proposals, and neither this announcement nor the RFI should be
construed as a request for proposal. All information contained in the
RFI is preliminary and subject to modification and is in no way binding
on the government. Questions or clarification concerning the
information package should be forwarded in writing no later than 14
days after RFI issuance. The RFI will be released on or about July 14,
1997. All RFI responses should be received by August 29, 1997. ONLY
CERTIFIED U.S. CONTRACTORS WILL BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS
