Library of Congress requires from one to five turnkey audio systems
capable of providing the highest quality playback, monitoring and
recording capabilities to assist in the preservation of its audio
collections. Each of these systems would be comprised of (1) a fully
integrated mastering console customized to include tapehead playback
electronics, phono stage, record level output and monitor level output,
(2) fully calibrated EQ unit, (3) A-D/D-A conversion with digital
capability in 16, 18 and 20 bits, 44.1 or 48 kiloHertz with UV-22
encoding, (4) turntable system (table, base and arm with cartridges and
styli) with capability to play disks (records) with a diameter of up to
16 inches at a speed that is continuously variable over a wide range
and (5) open-reel analog tape record/playback deck. Only Class A
discrete circuitry is to be used throughout. All level and balance
controls must be fully calibrated in 0.1 dB units. This solicitation is
for the purchase and installation of this system, its integration with
existing components that are presently operational, staff training for
full operation of the complete system, and maintenance. A preproposal
conference and site visit is scheduled for Thursday, July 31, 1997 at
9:30 am. Confirmation of attendance is required. Solicitation to be
