COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 3,1997 PSA#1880EPA/NSF ETV VERIFICATION OF PACKAGE DRINKING WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS
NSF International (NSF) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's
(EPA) Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) program is
requesting manufacturers and/or suppliers of package drinking water
treatment plants or modules of drinking water treatment systems to
notify NSF of their interest in applying for verification services
including testing and evaluation of existing data. Your response does
not commit your company to participate in the ETV program. The purpose
of this request is to provide information for NSF and the EPA to use
in assessing resource needs for this ETV pilot. With adequate
resources, stakeholders will receive timely and quality services from
this ETV pilot. The EPA entered into a cooperative agreement with NSF
in October 1995 to develop, organize and pilot a program to verify
package drinking water treatment plant performance. This pilot is part
of the EPA's Office of Research and Development ETV program. More
information on this ETV pilot is available on the NSF web site
(http://www.nsf.org/html/verification.html) and the EPA web site
(http://www.epa.gov/etv). The EPA web site also has information about
the ETV program, strategy and other pilots. NSF requests that equipment
manufacturers and/or suppliers provide the following information when
responding to this notice: -- type of verification services, e.g.,
testing, existing data review or both requested, -- company name and
name of person to contact, -- telephone number, facsimile number and
e-mail address of contact person,- -- complete shipping address, --
description of technology utilized in each model of equipment (bag and
cartridge filtration, microfiltration, nanofiltration, reverse
osmosis, electrodialysis, coagulation with filtration, adsorption,
oxidation, air stripping, ion exchange, activated alumina, etc.) -- a
list of drinking water contaminants that the manufacturer wants to
verify for removal, reduction and /or treatment by each model of
equipment. A form capturing the above information is available from NSF
by mail or facsimile. Any equipment manufacturer and/or supplier may
also obtain the form off the NSF web site
(http://www.nsf.org/html/verification.html). WEB: Click here to view
