current Postal Store concept. Work involves phasing interior demolition
and construction during non-business hours in an occupied and
operational lobby at the Southfield Station in Shreveport, LA, in
accordance with plans and specifications. Estimated cost range
$275,000.00-$305,000.00; and construction time is 90 calendar days. A
preproposal conference is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 1997 at 10:30
am at the job site, 1925 E. 70th Street, Shreveport, LA 71105-9998. All
interested contractors are urged to attend. A 20% proposal bond is
required. The successful contractor will be required to provide 100%
Performance and 50% Payment Bonds within forty-eight (48) hours after
notification of award. Successful offeror must submit their
Subcontracting Plan for Small and Minority-Owned and Woman-Owned
Business initially and thereafter with their progress payments. The
contractor shall subcontract with minority business firms in an amount
aggregating not less than10% of the total value of its subcontracts.
Offers will be received in this office, prior to, but not later than
3:30 p.m. on July 28, 1997. This is a request for proposals, therefore,
no public opening will be conducted. The number of offers received, the
identity of the offerors, the amount of any one offer, or relative
standing of offeror will not be disclosed to anyone until after award
of a contract is made and the request is submitted in writing. Proposal
documents, plans and specifications will be available on June 27, 1997
at a cost of $75.00 per set (NON-REFUNDABLE) payable by check or money
order only. Requests for packages shall be forwarded to Slack Alost

made payable to SLACK ALOST MIREMONT & ASSOCIATES. Plans may be
inspected at the issuing off~ice and any questions and/or information
