Prototype Acoustic Source Technology Arrays (PASTA) Industry Conference Date: 10 July 1997 Time: 0900 -- 1130 Location: 4297 Pacific Coast Hwy, San Diego, CA (Old Town Campus Bldg. 2, Admiral Cantrell Conference Room A) Security: This will be an unclassified briefing. Badges to be obtained in visitor's office at front gate. Visit requests must be submitted (see below). Purpose: The purpose of this conference is to present an overview of the Government's requirements for PASTA as well as to solicit industry comments regarding the potential utilization of "Other Transaction Authority for Prototypes" under 10 U.S.C. 2371 Section 845 as a means for achieving those requirements. The Government will also discuss its desire to use commercial (vice military) specifications and standards to the maximum extent practicable. The conference will provide a forum for open communication between the Government and industry, and the Government seeks industry feedback on the proposed acquisition strategy, the specs and standards issue, and the draft Statement of Work (SOW) (see below). Any statements made by the Government should be considered non-binding, and the Government's official position on the acquisition will only be contained in the solicitation. Participants are hereby notified that statements made by them during the conference will not be considered by the Government as proprietary. Schrock, Code, 02-22R, Building 66 53560 Hull Street San Diego, CA 92152-5002 The Interface Design Document (IDD), a revision to the draft SOW previously uploaded to the SPAWAR electronic bulletin board (BBS) in November 1996, and instructions for submitting the required visit request form, should be posted to the BBS commencing on/about 27 June 1997. The classified performance specificationfor the mini-array is available on request from SPAWAR (contact Jennifer Schrock, 619-553-8852), and requesters must provide their company name, address, security POC, and CAGE code. The SPAWAR BBS may be accessed from personal computers (PC) or Macintosh (MAC) computers by calling (703) 602-9494. The BBS operates at 14,400 baud with a setting of 8:N:1. These files (IDD, SOW, and visit request) will be in MS Word 7.0a format with the compressed file name pasta.zip. The file will be compressed by a shareware program, PKZ204G.EXE. The file will be on the Draft File Library. To download this file, interested parties will need, at a minimum, a PC or MAC with modem support software that supports VT100 or ANSI standard, a modem that operates between 300 bps -- 14.4K bps and a minimum of 1.5 Mb free disk space. The BBS will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, as demand of the BBS may be heavy at times, it may be necessary to call repeatedly or during non-business hours. Interested parties are encouraged to monitor the SPAWAR BBS, as all future files and notices related to this acquisition will be posted to the SPAWAR BBS.
