COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 26,1997 PSA#1875Argonne National Laboratory, Building 900, Industrial Technology
Development Center, 9700 South Cass Avenue, Argonne, IL 60439 A -- PARALLEL GENETIC ALGORITHM LIBRARY SOFTWARE AVAILABLE FOR
LICENSING POC Paul Betten, (630) 252-4962 Nonexclusive commercial
licenses are now available to include or embed the Parallel Genetic
Algorithm Package (PGAPack) Version 1.0 library into commercial
software. PGAPack is unique, general-purpose, and
data-structure-neutral. It has a number of advantages, including that
it is readily portable to parallel (or serial) computer architectures
and saves the effort associated with no building a library "from
scratch". In addition, it has been used extensively, and user feedback
has provided numerous improvements that have been incorporated into
PGAPack, thus correcting "bugs" and adding features. PGAPack is
user-friendly, and provides most capabilities desired in a genetic
algorithm library, in an integrated, seamless, and portable manner. Key
features include the following: It is callable from Fortran or C and
runs on uniprocessors, parallel computers, and workstation networks,
with multiple levels of access. It has a parameterized population
replacement; multiple crossover, mutation and selection operators; and
easy integration of hill-climbing heuristics. It's debugging
facilities are extensive, and it includes a large set of example
problems and detailed users guide. The software is available for
scientific R&D use with no right to sublicense or embed the code in
commercial products. Software details are provided at
