pyates@usgs.gov. The Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a
contract by other than full and open competition for production of
digital databases from scanned and digitized web pages generated from
digital databases, photographs, published papers E graphs, and from
digital databases and raw field data; manuals for these products; and
presentations of contracted products at meetings. These products are
for use in developing Coastal and Marine Geology Program Information
Bank and Access USGS -- San Francisco Bay and Delta web sites, and
future projects of the USGS Coastal and Marine Geology Program, Menlo
Park,CA. The contractor personnel must have at least the following
qualifications and experience:BA degree in Geology with 5 years
experience processing geological and geophysicaldata sets in order to
use judgement when processing complex data sets; 6 years experience
with Macintosh, Unix, and PC computer systems, and software packages
including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and
Microsoft Excel; 5 years experience using ARC/INFO to create and
analyze GIS databases; 1 year experience digitizing paper maps and
loading digitized data into ARC/fNFO; produce web site for technical
audience; 3 years experience in web site development using HTML,
client-side image maps, and animated GIFS; professional conference
presentations; demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, timely
deliverables and accurate work estimates; knowledge of USGS standards.
Expected labor hour type contract for one year base period plus 4
one-year option periods. The USGS intends to negotiate with Laura Zink
Graphics Etc., the only known source capable of meeting the
requirements, per FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other
supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Interested
parties should respond in writing within 15 days of publication date of
this notice to the contracting officer named above, stating clearly
