D -- SYSTEM INTEGRATION ANALYST SUPPORT AND SIGNAL ANALYSIS SYSTEM SOL PAN 3164-97 POC Donna Tignor, Contract Specialist, (205) 876-3671, Mike Thomason, Contracting Officer. It is the Government's intent to increase Option Years FY98, FY99, and FY2000 by 1 manyear each for additional hours of system integration analyst support and to add an option for a signal analysis system under the current High Performance Scientific Computer (HPSC), Contract Number DAAH03-92-C-0118. If exercised, the options will be awarded on a firm fixed price basis. The additional manyears of system integration analyst support are necessary for the purpose of assisting the user in converting software to the proposed systems, in optimizing softwre for the most efficient system operation, in implementing unique modifications into the operating system, and integrating the high speed network. Additionally, support shall be provided to perform updates to the operating system software and ensure that it is maintained to the manufacturer's specifications. Nichols Research Corporation installed MSIC's HPSC under Contract DAAH01-92-C-0118 and continues to maintain it, as well as develop, modify, and installsoftware for it. Nichols Research Corporation is the only source of immediate expertise for these support actions and is also knowledgeable enough of MSIC's HPSC and LAN to be able to perform the required software modifications and optimization. MSIC signals analysts use the signal analysis system to analyze signal data for support of MSIC analysts and for input into national data bases. The equipment must include an interface to MSIC's LAN and must be operable remotely from an x-compatible workstation at MSIC. It must allow transfer of graphics files and data files to and from computers on the LAN for further processing and analysis. The dependability of this equipment is critical. For these reasons, the equipment must be installed and interfaced into MSIC's LAN and HPSC by a source knowledgeable of the existing equipment at MSIC. Nichols Research Corporation is the only source knowledgeable enough of MSIC's HPSC and LAN to be able to interface and integrate this equipment into the existing equipment at MSIC. No solicitation will be issued. Nichols Research Corporation shall be requested to submit a proposal to perform the above effort and a modification to the current contract shall be issued.
