Division in the Office of Academic Programs of the United States
Information Agency's (USIA) Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs
is seeking expressions of interest from parties or organizations
interested in distributing overseas the materials the Division
publishes for the teaching of English and American language, culture
and education. The English Language Program Division provides
professional English language programming to promot e a world-wide
understanding and awareness of American language, society, values and
policies and fosters an English competent world community with which
Americans can engage freely. USIA produces approximately 70 titles as
well as the English Teaching FORUM. Multiple agreements may be
negotiated for similar or overlapping areas to purchase and distribute
the materials on condition that: 1. The materials shall NOT BE RESOLD
WITHIN THE U. S. A; 2. Preference will be given to distributors,
which: (a) Adve rtise and announce this new line of materials through
catalogs, pamphlets, brochures and the Internet; (b) Establish a
computer on-line ordering system for these materials; (c) Rent or own
a staff and warehouse abroad from which to house and disburse these
materials; (d) Provide an administrative officer, who will provide a
monthly report to the Agency of monies accrued and number of titles or
audio cassettes sold. Distributors would normally purchase USIA titles
on a quarterly basis. Payment to USIA sh all be through bank checks, in
US Dollars. USIA will send materials to addresses abroad per
distributors instructions. The price for each title will include
surface shipment to the nearest port of entry. Type of contract:
Cooperative License Agreement for up to a five year period.
