REQUEST FOR QUOTATION (RFQ) FOR FABRICATION OF 95/5 PZT CERAMIC DISKS Responses to this notice will be used to develop a source list for a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for fabrication of 95/5 PZT ceramic disks or slugs which will be used at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) to fabricate weapon components. It is anticipated that this RFQ will be issued by mid-August 1997. SNL is one of the nation's largest and most diverse research and development laboratories. Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation, manages and operates SNL for the United States Department of Energy. Sandia's mission is to provide scientific and engineering solutions to meet national needs in nuclear weapons and related defense systems, energy, security, and environmental integrity, and to address emerging national challenges. Sandia is also developing a manufacturing role as it assumes production responsibilities for certain non-nuclear components for weapon applications. Sandia is interested in soliciting price and performance information in the area of fabrication of 95/5 PZT material. Among Sandia's requirements for processing this material are the following: 1) Respondents should have established PZT processing capability meeting all existing government environmental requirements. 2) Capability for mixed oxide processing to yield nominally 100 kg. powder batches (60-200 kg. range). 3) Willingness to follow Sandia drawing documented requirements for fabrication of this material. Interested manufacturer's of PZT materials who can address the needs given above are encouraged to submit a written response to Sandia within thirty (30) calendar days from the date of this CBD notice. This response should include a description of the supplier's ability to meet Sandia's needs and any additional information regarding the respondent's organization, related products, processing capabilities, etc. Any information furnished should not be company sensitive or proprietary.
