synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation; proposals are being requested and written
solicitation will not be issued. This synopsis/solicitation number
97-105(N) is issued as a Request for Proposal. This solicitation
document incorporates provisions and clauses in effect through Federal
Acquisition Circular 90-46. This procurement is unrestricted. The
standard industrial classification code (SIC)is 7372. Small business
size standard: Average annual receipt for each of the three preceding
fiscal years do not exceed $18 million. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES TO BE
ACQUIRED: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a
requirement for a commercial software package that has the following
capabilities: 1). To be able to numerically simulate turbulence flow
fields and particle trajectories for exposure assessment systems, such
as aerosol samplers, ventilation systems, and exposure chambers, etc.;
2). The software must be compatible with the computational fluid
dynamics (CFD) software FIDAP (Fluent, Inc., Lebanon, New Hampshire)
which we are currently using. 3). The software must be able to run on
the Sun Enterprise 6000 computer system. The software is to be shipped
FOB to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NIOSH, 1095
Willowdale Rd. MS P04/B167, Morgantown, WV 26505-2845. Software shall
be received within 30 days after receipt of order. The FAR
provisions-52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors -- Commercial Items and
FAR 52.212-2 Evaluation -- Commercial Items apply to this acquisition.
EVALUATION FACTOR: The Government will award a contract resulting from
this solicitation to the responsible offeror whose offer conforming to
this synopsis/solicitation will be the most advantageous to the
Government, price and other factors considered. The following factors
shall be used to evaluate offers: technical capability of the software
to meet the Government's requirement, and price. FAR 52.212-3, Offeror
Representations and Certification -- Commercial Items applies to this
acquisition. Offerors are to include a completed copy of this
