This project is to remove and replace the existing continuous boiler blowdown heat recovery system, install four (4) boiler feedwater economizers with feedwater preheaters at the Central Heat Plant, and to remove and replace high pressure steam traps in various buildings at Hanscom AFB, MA. The principle items of work include, but are not limited to: demolition of medium pressure (100 psig) steam and condensate piping, removal and replacement of high pressure steam traps, removal of continuous blowdown heat recovery system and associated controls, roofing work, piping, rigging, metal fabrication, structural steel, heat exchangers, insulation, induced draft fans, associated electrical work and direct digital controls. Perspective contractors shall note that none of the four (4) boilers at the Central Plant shall be shut down for any reason during the months of October through April, inclusive. Acquisition of the Direct Digital Controls for this project shall be non-competitive to Southern Technologies, Inc. The contract shall be a Firm Fixed Price contract. The period of performance will be 340 calendar days. An exclusionary period is not required for this work. The basic bid shall consist of removal and replacement of the blowdown heat recovery system with options for installation of the feedwater economizers, replacement of steam traps, and CADD as-built drawings. The magnitude of construction is between $250,000 and $500,000. Tentative dates for issuing and opening of bids are 8 July 97 and 7 August 97.
