703/306-1242!! The National Science Foundation (NSF) recently awarded
four blanket purchase agreements (BPA) as a result of the CBD notice
issued April 1, 1997. NSF intends to compete the following editorial
requirement among the BPA holders. The order will be awarded in
accordance with FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The
requirement is set-aside for small businesses under SIC code 2721 (size
standard 500 employees). This is a combined synopsis/solicitation as
supplemented with the additional information included in this notice.
Interested firms should submit a quote, including a short technical
description by June 30, 1997. Work Requirements for Science and
Engineering Indicators 1998 are as follows: (1) Provide copyediting,
technical editing, and a statistical review for 8 chapters of text to
include graphics, tables, and charts; an overview; and appendices. NSF
will require approximately three rounds of review for each chapter,
overview, and appendix. Text for the material will be provided in
Microsoft Word. Text and appendix tables will be provided in Excel.
Graphs and charts will be provided as either Freelance for graphics,
Corel, or PowerPoint. The contractor is expected to provide editing
comments electronically. The contractor is also expected to incorporate
author approved comments from the COTR and Indicators review team, as
well as provide clean hard copies of each chapter, overview, or
appendix incorporating all edits to the COTR following an editing
cycle. (2) Have the ability to receive and deliver editing comments
electronically via email. (3) Perform editing within the required
schedule. Each chapter, overview, or appendix needs to be edited online
within two weeks from initial delivery to contractor. Subsequent
editing rounds need to be completed within two weeks as well. (4)
Provide finished files on diskette to COTR as provided to composition
contractor for each chapter, overview, and appendix. Guidelines for
editing include previous version of this publication, NSB 96-21,
Science and Engineering Indicators 1996, and the U.S. Government
Printing Office Style Manual, supplemented by The New York Public
Library Writer's Guide to Style and Usage, and any additional
exceptions provided by the Program Director, the SRS Publications
Manager, or other designated representative. The publication, NSB
96-21, is available on the World Wide Web at
