Officer, 510/437-3996 The U.S. Coast Guard, Maintenance and Logistics
Command Pacific (MLCPAC) proposes to contract for dry docking and
repairs to USCGC POLAR SEA (WAGB-11). Period of performance
approximately September through December 1997. Solicitation to be
issued on/about 30 June. Major work items include production planning,
dry docking, tailshaft removal and bearing inspection, fuel tank
cleaning, underwater body preservation, stern tube oak rub rail
renewal, MSB davit biennial inspection and overhaul, zinc annode
renewal, and sea valve/waster piece overhaul. Contractor must have or
have access to facilities capable of drydocking vessel with approximate
following characteristics: length overall: 399 ft; beam, extreme: 84
ft; draft full load 32 ft; displacement 12,844 LT. This procurement
will be issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness
Demonstration Program; all responsible offerors may submit bids which
will be considered by the agency. Additional Notice for Woman Owned and
Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation
(DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU)
has programs to assist minority, woman-owned and disadvantaged
enterprises to acquire short-term working capital assistance for
transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide
accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
