Z -- SYNOPSIS FOR NEW CONTRACT FOR ELEVATOR SOL GS-09P-97-KTC-0048 DUE 081297 POC Point of Contact -- Contact,Elisa Sanchez,415/522-3162 The General Services Administration (GSA) has a requirement to provide all labor, equipment, materials, supplies, services, technical expertise and incidentals to preform comprehensive modernization and upgrade of fourteen elevators and accessibility modifications to two courtrooms and a Grand Jury hearing room, and replacement of interior and exterior handrails at the Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse located at 300 Ala Moana Boulevard in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Federal Building (A) contains one bank of four passenger elevators in the Halekauwila lobby and two banks, with one bank consisting ofthree passenger elevators and the other bank with two passengers and one freight elevator in the Ala Moana lobby. The Courthouse Building (B) contains three passenger elevators in the main lobby, and judges elevator. Work includes control upgrades, replacing door operators, cab enclosure/cab interior modernization, installing new elevator lobby signals, refinishing of elevator hoistway entrances, accessibility (ADA) modifications to the passenger elevators, and installing an access gate for an elevator machine room. Provide air-conditioning in the elevator machine rooms, upgrade the existing hoistway ventilation system in the elevator hoistways for Buildings A and B. Alter the existing sprinkler system to provide feeds for each elevator machine room, along with devices that initiates automatic power disconnect. Modify two Courtrooms and a Grand Jury hearing roomin the Courthouse for handicap accessibility. Replace interior & exterior stair handrails for handicapped access. The estimated cost of construction is between $1,000,000 and $3,000,000. This procurement is under the small business demonstration program and will be open to both large and small businesses. In the event award is made to a large business concern, a small business subcontracting plan will be required in accordance with Public Law 95.507. The Contractor willbe required to demonstrate a certain level of expertise and the capability to provide maintenance support. The Prime Contractor will be required to perform atleast twenty percent of the work and the prime should be a firm that has successfully completed and can demonstrate previous projects of the same nature. A 20% Bid Bond is required. Performance and Payment Bonds will be required prior toreceipt of the Notice to Proceed. The Solicitation Package will be available approximately at the beginning of July 1997. A limited number of solicitation packages will be available and will be issued on a first-come first-served basis.The date and time of the Pre-Bid/Site Visit will be specified in the solicitation.
