COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 13,1997 PSA#1866Commander, Naval Air Systems Command (Code 2.0), 1421 Jefferson Davis
Hwy, Arlington, Va 22243-5120 14 -- GUIDED MISSILES POC Contact, Robert M. Celeste, Phone
(703)604-2119 Sources sought for a Cryoengine for the AIM-9M missile.
Information to be provided on a Non-developmental, off the shelf
Cryoengine. The design must be substantiated to be mature and tested to
be reliable and to work effectively in a tactical missile environment.
The program manager is investigating the feasiblity of integrating an
existing cooling system design into the WGU-4E/B Guidance Control
Section (GCS). Candidate cooling systems would: 1) replace the existing
Joule Thompson (JT) cooling system within the missile, 2) eliminate the
need for supplying external cooling gases to the missile, 3) Fit within
the available volume of the GCS, 4) Operate off power available at the
missile's umbilical, 5) Maintain the GCS detector element at an
acceptable operating temperature before launch, and 6) Maintain the GCS
detector element at an acceptable operating temperature over the most
extreme free flight environment that the missile can experience. The
integrated cooling system must be qualified for serviceuse (and
production) no later than 18 months after contract award. Please submit
all responses to Naval Air Systems Command Attention Robert Celeste no
later than 7 July 97 -- NAVAIR Synopsis No. 20094-97. (0162) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0195 19970613\14-0004.SOL)
