Webster, TX 77598-4336 99 -- PRECISION FABRICATION OF TITANIUM TUBES POC Donna L. Leech,
Subcontract Administrator, 281/480-8101 x201, Fax: 281/286-9673 Johnson
Engineering Corporation (JE) is a prime contractor (NAS9-18800) to the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at Johnson Space
Center (JSC), Houston, Texas. JE is seeking qualified suppliers to
provide for the precision fabrication of approximately three Titanium
6AL-4V thin wall tubes with flanges at each end. Each flange will
require the machining of threaded holes on an approximate 13.75
diameter bolt circle. The approximate tube dimensions are 15 inches
O.D. X .094 wall thickness X 240 inches long. The wall thickness at the
flanges will taper to 1.25 inches thick. Possible fabrication methods
and processes are welding, chemical milling, and flow forming. The tube
assembly will have to be stress relieved for those fabrication
processes that produce residual stresses. Interested sources are
requested to provide the following information within 15 days of the
publication date of this notice: (1) Submit specific information which
clearly demonstrates the capability to meet the anticipated
requirement described above, and (2) Describe what method would be used
to fabricate the Titanium tubes. All firms submitting a capability
statement will be considered and any subsequent solicitation will be
issued to the sources that JE has determined to be qualified. JE does
not intend to pay for information received as a result of this
synopsis. (0160) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0280 19970611\99-0003.SOL)
