Design Group at Patuxent River, MD intends to procure: Cast titanium
F-18 ejector blocks for a development program to study the investment
casting process and the effect of post casting processing procedures on
material properties such as tensile strength and fracture toughness.
The solicitation number N00421-97-Q-1142 is hereby issued as a Request
For Quote (RFQ). This new requirement will be using Simplified
Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and will be a Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP)
Purchase Order to be delivered to NAWCAD Patuxent River, MD. The
anticipated award date is 30 June 1997. The Government intends to
solicit and negotiate the proposed award on a SOLE SOURCE BASIS with
Howmet Research Corporation, 1500 South Warner St., Whitehall, MI
49461. Howmet Research is the only manufacturer capable of producing
aerospace quality investment castings for the F-18 and currently has
