The Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, is interested in procuring archaeological monitoring of construction excavation associated with flood wall replacement at the Johnstown Local Flood Protection Project (LFPP), Johnstown (Cambria County), Pennsylvania. Archaeological monitoring is required at two sites in Unit 5, Stonycreek River, right bank, Station 49+14 to 49+38, and right bank, Station 53+91 to 54+70. The successful contractor will monitor construction excavation activities in the two specified areas to identify the presence of any potential archaeological deposits, and if deposits are present, to evaluate their significance and perform data recovery of significant resources. Archaeological field work is required to be accomplished in three phases within a 60 day period. Laboratory analysis of cultural material, processing cultural material for curation, cultural material curation, and report preparation will be addressed under separate line items. Interim and final reports are required. The period of performance will be from 15 August 1997 or date of award, whichever is later, through 31 December 1999.
