Congress, mday@loc.gov. The Library of Congress intends to negotiate
with Perservation Technologies, Inc. (PTI), 111 Thomson Park Drive,
Cranberry Township, PA 16066 for a four year effort to deacidify an
estimated 275,000 Library books, utilizing the Bookkeeper
deacidification process. The Library also intends to utilize PTI
contract services to perform in-house Library book handling functions
(such as pulling, charging, packing, shipping, receiving, and refiling)
that support the mass deacidification contract work flow. Any other
company (1) that is currently offering mass deacidification services
within the continental U.S. by utilizing an operational technology that
has not been fully evaluated and tested within the last two years by
the Library; and, (2) which company believes its process can meet all
of the Library's advertised deacidification technical requirements as
contained in its Request For Proposals (RFP90-21) dated 09/13/90
(copies available from the CO upon request) can apply to the Library
during the next three years for evaluation and testing of that process
