The Bureau of the Public Debt intends to lease Memorex Telex 5490E Cartridge Drive Units (36 Track Tape Drives). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-46. The standard industrial classification (SIC) code is 7377; the small business size standard is $18.0 million. The Bureau of the Public Debt currently utilizes a Memorex Telex 5491E Dual Control Unit with four (4) 5490E Cartridge Drive Units. An additional four (4) 5490E Cartridge Drive Units are required and can be supported without the need for additional hardware, electrical cabling, bus and tag cables, and with minimal logistics in allocating computer floor space. A lease option of eight (8) months with the option to extend the lease on a per month basis for up to one year is required. The vendor shall locate and provide the required four (4) Memorex Telex 5490E Cartridge Drive Units or equal, to be vendor-installed/connected to the existing Memorex Telex 5491E Dual Control Unit. Installation location: Bureau of the Public Debt, 200 Third Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101. The hardware shall be delivered, installed, and operational by September 1, 1997. Warranty shall be for a minimum of 30 days. Maintenance shall be vendor provided, on site, with a 24-hour response time for the duration of the lease. The provision at 52.212-2, Evaluation -- Commercial Items (OCT 1995), applies to this acquisition; award will be based on Low Price and Technical acceptability.
