Army's Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM) is
considering procurement of a Joint Live Fire Instrumentation System for
the Army's Maneuver Combat Training Centers and the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first system will likely be for the Combat Maneuver Training
Center in Hohenfels, Germany. A summary of identified requirements is
given in the Summary Requirements Document (SRD); the SRD for JLF-IS
may be viewed via the STRICOM Home Page at www.stricom.army.mil under
Procurement Information. No specific Statement of Work (SOW) or
Specification is yet available. STRICOM wishes to establish a
partnering with industry to assist in the assessment of technologies
and the development of acquisition strategies for the JLF-IS program.
Industry is encouraged to frequently examine the information provided
on the STRICOM Home Page, and respond, as applicable. Regular updates
will be provided as the situation warrants; the Government intends to
provide these to all interestedparties via electronic means only. It is
STRICOM's intention to use this information exchange vehicle as one of
the primary tools for the development of the ultimate JLF-IS
solicitation. This announcement does not constitute a request for
proposal, but is solely for the purpose of planning by surveying the
market for qualified sources interested in the above requirement. No
formal solicitation is available at this time; it is anticipated that
a formal Request For Proposal would be issued in FY99. The Government
reserves the right to set this procurement aside for small business or
