Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) vehicles of the Bradley Fire Support
Team (BFIST) program are dedicated to replacing the current U.S. Army's
M113-based M981 Fire Support Team Vehicle (FISTV). It will exhibit the
same speed, mobility and protection level as the Bradley A2 with
Operation Desert Storm improvements. The system consists of a modular
design with an open architecture, high performance computing system
that interconnects the individual modules (i.e. communications,
targeting, laser designator, and navigation) and controls their
functionalities under the supervision of an operator. The LRIP phase
will include delivery of three (3) systems for government-directed
testing, test support and an option for an additional nineteen (19)
vehicles. The acquisition will be negotiated on a sole-source basis
with United Defense Limited Partnership (UDLP) of York, PA pursuant to
