sheehan@fetc.doe.gov. The Department of Energy's (DOE), National
Petroleum Technology Office (NPTO) seeks proposals that contain an
interdisciplinary approach to the characterization of oil reservoirs
through the use of basic and applied research. The objective of this
PRDA is to support research integrating advanced geoscience and
reservoir engineering concepts, technologies and methodologies to
quantify reservoir architecture and the dynamics of fluid-rock and
fluid-fluid interactions as related to lithologic characterization.
Quantitative definition of reservoir heterogeneity is needed through
the integration of geologic, geophysical and engineering data of widely
variable scales, into a multidisciplinary understanding of the
reservoir architecture and associated fluids interactions. Results
should increase accuracy and confidence in model development and
subsequent simulation activities, thus increasing well-to-well scale
predictability for optimizing recovery from U.S. oil reservoirs. This
PRDA will only be available via internet and will not be distributed in
paper form. It is anticipated that solicitation DE-RA26-97BC15029 will
be accessible (as a Word Perfect 6.1 (Windows) document or in the
Portable Document Format (PDF) on the World Wide Web (WWW) at
http://www.fetc.doe.gov (select "solicitations") on or about June 30,
1997 and that the closing date for submission of proposals will be
September 2, 1997. Those who obtain a copy of the solicitation through
the WWW should check the location frequently for any amendments.
