K -- UPGRADE EXIDE EQUIPMENT DUE 070397 POC Patricia Bullock Tel: 410-965-9528 The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Exide Electronics, P.O. Box 190, Franklinton, NC 27525, unless responses to this synopsis reveal that other sources are capable of satisfying this requirement.The SSA requires three (3) upgrades to the existing Exide 3000 Series -- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) System. The SSA is seeking information from qualified firms for three upgrades on twenty (20) 400 KVA series 3000 Exide modules in use at the National Computer Center located in Baltimore (Woodlawn),Maryland. These upgrades involve intergrating current production material, customization of SSA's specialized UPS system and on-site design engineering support. UPGRADE ONE (1): New High- Temperature "HT" Card Cage Logic Upgrade. This enhancement involves the upgrade of all module card cage logic printed circuit boards, transfer logic printed circuit boards, and spare parts printed circuit boards. This upgrade covers a total of 272 card cage logic (printed circuit card) assemblies and spare parts. This new logic provides increased reliability and serviceability, due to higher temperature components. UPGRADE TWO(2): Enhanced Gate Firing Module (GFM) Circuit Assemblies -- This enhancement will upgrade all inverter assembly ~leg~ GFM printed circuit assemblies, as well as an upgrade of the harnessing that connect these assemblies to the card cage logic. There is a total of 244 inverter leg gate firing modules (printed circuit cards) assemblies required to perform the upgrade. In addition, 40 new customized shield wiring harnesses and 240 conversion kits are needed. UPGRADE THREE (3): Fuse protected AC output filter upgrade -- This enhancement provides improved protection for both the output filter capacitor banks and the UPS critical buss output. There is a total of 20 customized AC output filter kit assemblies that are required to perform the field upgrade. Organizations having the required experience and the technical capabilities are invited to submit complete documentation discussing such capabilities. See Notes 22 & 25. (0139)
