ROMERO, 805-982-5048 The contractor shall install, operate and maintain one RWP/RASS unit (915 MHz) and associated on-site equipment for data collection, processing, reduction, and transmission. The contractor shall perform field operations, data collection, and provide a final report and data. With the unit, the contractor shall also provide a surface meteorological station for monitoring air temperature, pressure, humidity, and wind speed and direction. The contractor shall calibrate the surface instruments at the beginning and end of the study. The contractor shall provide the instrument shelters and all other equipment and supplies necessary to operate each RWP/RASS station. The contractor shall provide additional computer resources for basic quality control, archiving, and transmission of the data to a central data gathering location. These instruments will be used to complement the upper-air meteorological network for the entirety of the SCOS97-NARSTO project. The duration of the study shall be from June 15, through October 15, 1997. The contractor will be evaluated on technical approach and workplan, previous related experience in deploying and operating RWP/RASS systems, and timely availability of RWP/RASS units, surface weather stations, and computer resources.
