EUROPEAN COMMUNITY: DRAFT COMMISSION REGULATION AMENDING ANNEXES II AND VI OF COUNCIL REGULATION (EEC) NO. 2092/91 ON ORGANIC PRODUCTION OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS AND INDICATIONS REFERRING THERETO ON AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS AND FOODSTUFFS The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: Draft Commission Regulation Amending Annexes II and VI of Council Regulation (EEC) No. 2092/91 on Organic Production of Agricultural Products and Indications Referring Thereto on Agricultural Products and Foodstuffs. 6. Description of content: This regulation updates, taking into account gained experience with the implementation of the regime of Regulation (EEC) No. 2092/91, the requirements with regard to fertilisers, products for plant protection and non-agricultural ingredients and processing aids, the use of which is authorized in organic farming. There is a general agreement on the content of the text except for copper, extract (aqueous solution) from Nicotiana tabacum and pyrethroids included in Annex II of the Draft Commission Regulation. For these three substances there is the possibility of deleting them or establish additional limits for the conditions for use. 7. Objective and rationale: This amendment is necessary to prevent deceptive practices in particular to consumers in the trade of organic products. 8. Relevant documents: Doc. 7393/VI/97 rev. 8. 9.
