COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 14,1997 PSA#1845Naval Research Laboratory, Attn: Code 3230, 4555 Overlook Avenue, SW,
Washington, DC 20375-5326 A -- PROVIDE GIMBALS AND GIMBAL DRIVE ELECTRONICS FOR SPACECRAFT DUE
061697 POC Code 3211, Bill Purdy E-MAIL: Click here to forward a
request via e-mail, synopsis@contracts.navy.nrl. The Naval Research
Laboratory (NRL)is seeking sources capable of providing assemblies with
rotary joints operating to 9 Gigahertz and gimbal drive electronics for
spacecraft. NRL is especially interested in highly reliable, low cost,
space rated gimbals, electrical and RF rotary joints and gimbal drive
electronics for tasks such as antenna pointing, solar array pointing
and payload pointing. The information requested is not for a specific
application at the present time. The pointing accuracy requirements
vary from as large as 5 to 10 degrees to as tight as 5 arcseconds. The
signal pass through requirements will vary from none to large
quantities of power and low frequency signal to limited high frequency
and RF channels. The weight and inertia requirements will vary with
the specific application. NRL is interested in limiting the requirement
in order to minimize cost without sacrificing reliability. NRL is
interested in making use of existing qualified gimbals. Describe your
product or capability, provide specification sheets or describe
previously delivered hardware. NRL would like information discussing
which requirements typically drive costs up without adding value.
