U -- OFF-THE_SHELF COMPUTER BASE TRAINING (CBT) MODULES SOL CBD&&&97050001 Informational Purposes Only DUE 062597 POC Contract Administrator, Glen Haskins-Whitehead, 202-283-1345 The Internal Revenue Service (IRS), School of Taxation proposes to develop technical material in the MicroMash CBT format for use by IRS employees as CPE. Under an exisiting contract, MicroMash is providing CBT to the IRS for use on laptop computers with the following minimum attributes for one of the listed formats: MS-DOS Format: DOS 3.0 or Higher, 640K RAM, 512K (523288 Bytes) Free Memory, Two Disk Drives (Hard Disk with IMB Free and a floppy disk, two floppy disks, or one floppy with access on most networks) -- SECUREcard software. Windows Format: 386 or higher, Windows 3.1 or higher in enhanced mode, 4MB RAM, One 1.2 MB or 1.4MB floppy and hard drive with 4MB free, a mouse is required. MicroMash has agreed to these minimum computer attributes. The IRS has the right to purchase additional module titles at the stated price within the base period and each option year of the contract. To maintain quality, it is important that training be developed for use by IRS employees. The Employee Plans division is compling technical information on the Tax Reform Act of 1986 Coverage and Non-Discrimination. This information will be provided to MicroMash, for development of CBT Modules. Any interested parties who desire this information should contact, Nancy Moran Rice, (703) 308-6202. The IRS does not guarantee the purchase of any CBT module developed from this information. No other information is available. MicroMash has established an ordering system for the courses which allows each IRS employee the ability to order the course of his or her choice, to designate the disk size and format, and to identify the employee who has placed the order for ease of distribution by the Post of Duty (POD). The IRS employee provides the order form to the POD, which transmits the orders directly to MicroMash. MicroMash accepts orders from any of the ordering offices. MicroMash is responsible for distribution of the orders nationwide to the PODs. The CBT modules are designed to update knowledge, fill in gaps of knowledge, and go deeply into ares necessary for technical competencies and professional performance. The CBT modules are self-paced, include complete instructions for use, a Technical Support Hotline, and require no instructor support. Each CBT moodule is designed for one to ten hours of CPE credit.
