West Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60604-3590 B -- EUTROPHICATION PRODUCTIVITY/MODELING FOR THE LAKE MICHIGAN
ENHANCED MONITORING/MASS BALANCE STUDY SOL PR-R5-97-10089 DUE 062097
POC Tawanda Thomas/(312)886-5948, Contract Specialist or William
Massie/(312)886-5868, Contracting Officer E-MAIL: Environmental
Protection Agency, Tawanda.Thomas@epamail.epa.gov. The Environmental
Protection Agency intends to award a contract to Limno-Tech, Inc., 501
Avis, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 for Eutrophication/Productivity Modeling for
the Lake Michigan Enhanced Monitoring/Mass Balance Project. All
components of this study are intensive efforts and are described in the
Lake Michigan Mass Balance Work Plan. Mathematical models will be used
to predict future conditions of the contaminants of concern and
associated parameters. This acquisition focuses on
eutrophication/sorbent dynamics modeling as it relates to productivity
in the lower food chain and the relationships among different trophic
levels, carbon production and consumption, and contaminant dynamics
and cycling. The overall goal is to provide the conceptual and logistic
framework for implementing the multi-class phytoplankton model in
regards to the spatial, physical, chemical and biological features of
Lake Michigan and links to other appropriate models. The primary tasks
associated with this acquisition include the conceptual and logistic
framework for integrating an existing resolved productivity model
within the Water Quality Analysis Simulation Program construct;
ensuring linkages to the sediment transport, contaminant transport and
fate, food chain bioaccumulation models; conceptual and logistic
expansion and development of other appropriate trophic levels and
functional groups; expert assistance in the refinement of
carbon/sorbent relationships and dynamics; expert evaluation of input
needs; and coordination with the Lake Michigan Mass Balance Work
Groups. See Note 22. (0120) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0019 19970502\B-0002.SOL)
