Officer, Karen Giles, (415) 744-4593. Physician needed to work under
contract, on a part-time basis for the Social Security Administration
(SSA), Western Program Service Center Health Unit, 1221 Nevin Avenue,
Richmond, CA. The contractor must have a regular weekly work schedule
of two (2) hours per day between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
noon, Monday through Friday on normal Government work days, excluding
federal holidays. The contractor shall provide emergency medical
treatment to SSA employees and visitors, including diagnosis and
initial treatment of injury or illness that becomes necessary during
work hours; whether or not such injury/illness was sustained by the
employee while in the performance of duty or whether illness was caused
by his or her employment. The contractor shall provide direction in
preventative health and immunization programs. The contractor shall
perform medical examinations as required by management. This does not
include routine physical examinations, except for pre-employment
screening. The contractorshall provide medical advice on professional
services in the Health Unit, job related health hazards and injuries,
personnel services such as alcoholism and drug abuse programs, and
mental fitness of an employee to perform his/her job. The contractor
shall conduct noontime health education programs and special meetings
as requested, and when medical advise is needed for situations that
cannot be accommodated within the regular scheduled hours of service.
The standard industrial code (SIC) is 8011. This procurement is a 100
percent small business set aside. The expected date of contract is
11-1-97. The period of performance for the base period shall be one
year from the date of award with four 1-year option periods, if
exercised. It is estimated a solicitation will be issued or about
6/01/97 with proposals due 30 days thereafter. All responsible sources
may submit a proposal which shall be considered. No telephone requests
