70 -- SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS SOL SSA-RFQ-97-2989 POC Junghie Elky Tel: (410) 965-9483 Under the authority of FAR 6.302, the Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to solicit and negotiate with I. Levy & Associates on a sole-source basis for services leading to the modification of its proprietary software that had been developed for and is used by twenty-eight Disability Determination Services (DDSs) for the processing of disability claims. The modifications will make the baseline and DDS- specific software year 2000 compliant without invalidating any portion of existing maintenance contracts for the software. The estimated timeframe for the completion of the conversion services, which include testing and installing the converted software in each DDS, is two years. Interested persons may express their interest by describing their capability and respond to this notice of intent within 15 days after date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No cost or pricing data is required or requested.
