AMENDMENT 3. The following notification is being circulated in
accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.115. 1. Member to
Agreement notifying: SLOVAK REPUBLIC. If applicable, name of local
government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible:
Slovak Ministry of Health. Agency or authority designated to handle
comments regarding the notification can be indicated if different from
above. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or
CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers
may be provided in addition, where applicable): Wooden furniture,
wooden furniture for offices, wooden furniture for kitchens, wooden
furniture for bedrooms, and other wooden furniture. 5. Title, number of
pages and language(s) of the notified document: STN 91 0001:1988 Wooden
Furniture. Basic Regulations. Amendment 3. (3 pages, in Slovak). 6.
Description of content: Article 7 of the Standard STN 91 0001:1988 is
amended as follows: The material used for furniture manufacture is
required tobe safe and hygienically sound. (a) It is forbidden to use
any material, the fumes of which have unfavorable or detrimental effect
on objects kept inside the furniture. (b) The composition of the
materials used for furniture manufacture has to meet the following
requirement: the formaldehyde emissions measured by chamber method in
accordance with the Slovak Standard STN 0030 must not exceed 0.035
mg.m3 in furniture destined for bedrooms, childrooms, schools and
hospitals, and 0.050 mg.m3 in other furniture. (c) The portion of
migrating elements from furniture in contact with foodstuffs, must not
exceed the value determined by mandatory provision of the Slovak
Ministry of Health No. 36, dated 30 November 1997. (d) Glass used for
the product has to meet the requirement determined by Article 29 of the
Slovak Standard STN 70 1570. Testing will be performed in accordance
with Chapter 4 of the Slovak Standard STN 70 0592. 7. Objective and
