Amendment No. 001: This is an amendment to the Request For Quotation number 441-088 originally publicized in the CBD dated 4/08/97 and hereby amends the STATEMENT OF WORK/SPECIFICATIONS with the following additional information: This requirement is for a fresh water supply system, not a waste water system. Each water filtration system will consist of one tank with layers of gravel, sand, and carbon. The tanks are each independent systems. The filter vessels require ASME stamps. Access manholes are required in the filter vessels. Side mount valves are acceptable. The total maximum height allowable is 90". Adequate ceiling room in the building provides clearance to top load the media into the vessel. The internal filter distributor is required to be stainless steal. The quoter may provide an alternative quotation of a corrosion-proof plastic or fiberglass tank which may be considered by the Government. The external face piping is required to be copper. The water to be filtered comes from the current domestic potable water supply. The inflow to the system will be between the hours of 4AM and 8PM daily. The filter system does not require an influent pump. "Centaur Carbon" is a brand trade name for granular activated charcoal. An equal alternative to Centaur Carbon material is permitted. The required delivery time is hereby changed to allow ninety (90) days from the date of contract award. The Government will be responsible for loading the filter media, if the media is required to be shipped separately. If required for warranty purposes, the supplier will supervise, at its expense, the loading of filter media and/or start up. The following results were obtained from a water analysis report dated August 5, 1996, for the subject domestic (city) water supply taken from a kitchen tap: Alkalinity, M as CaCO3 mg/L: 24 Alkalinity, P as CaCO3 mg/L: 0 Aluminum (Field Acidified) as Al mg/L: 1.9 Chloride as Cl mg/L: 7 Conductivity -- umhos/cm: 196 Copper (Field Acidified) as Cu mg/L: 0.01 Hardness, Calcium as CaCO3mg/L: 58 Hardness, Magnesium as CaCO3 mg/L: 5 Hardness, Total as CaCO3 mg/L: 63 Iron (Field Acidified) as Fe mg/L: 0.04 pH (Lab) Standard Units: 7.6 Phosphorus, Ortho as PO4 mg/L: <1 Silica as SiO2 mg/L: 6 Sulfate as SO4 mg/L: 45 Zinc (Field Acidified) as Zn mg/L: 0.01 The hour and date specified for receipt of quotes is extended to 2:00 PM EST, on May 6, 1997. Quoters must acknowledge receipt of this amendment prior to the hour and date as amended by acknowledging receipt of this amendment on each copy of the quote submitted, or by separate letter or telegram which includes a reference to the solicitation and amendment numbers.
