hwallac1@email.usps.gov. The scope of work is to construct an
approximatley 21,000 square foot New Main Post Office Building on a 5
acre site including dock and platform. Work includes a Retail store,
workroom, loading dock and equipment, support areas and covered
parking. The building will be constructed using a steel frame, open bar
joists, metal studding and split face exterior masonry walls, concrete
slab on grade, 30 year, four ply built up roof system, standing seam,
metal roof at building entry, open loading areas, metal stud and
gypsum board interior partitions and acoustical ceilings, complete
plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems, fire and smoke detection
systems, as required by local code and US Postal Service requirements.
A motion sensor system and (2) CCTV systems will be required. Site
work will include demolition of existing paving and utilities. Site
development will require phasing of road work to assure that total
access will be maintained at all times during construction for the
Moreland Park businesses behind the Postal site. Site development will
include asphalt paved parking areas for customers, Postal vehicles
parking and maneuvering areas and employee parking. Due to the close
proximity of the Pennypack water shed, a sediment pond will be required
and closely monitored. After construction is completed, Moreland
Business Park Inc shall convert the sediment pond into a permanent
storm water detention basin. Site development will also include all
signage, landscaping and fencing. Offeror must have a minimum of five
(5) years experience as a General contractor and must have
satisfactorily completed at least five (5) projects of similar size and
scope. Proposals will be evaluated in the areas listed in order of
importance: (1) Cost/price, (2) Previous experience, (3) Financial
Stability, (4) References. Award will be made to the offeror whose
proposal is most advantageous to the Postal Servce. A preproposal
conference has been scheduled for May 1, 1997 @ 10:00 am at the offices
at Maida Engineering Inc, 710 East Third St, Essington PA 19029. The
estimated price range is between $2,500,000 and $3,500,000 with
completion required within 300 calendar days after receipt of the
Notice to Proceed. Solicitation packages will be available on or about
April 18, 1997 at $125.00 per set, NON-REFUNDABLE, from Maida
Engineering Inc, 710 East Third St, Essington PA 19029, attn: Joseph

orders must be made payable to Disbursing Officer, US Postal Service.
Cash will not be accepted. Offers are due May 30, 1997 by 4:00 pm.
Offers wil not be publicly opened. The number of offers received, the
identity of the offerors, the amount of any offer, or relative standing
of the offer will not be disclosed to anyone except those Postal
personnell whose official duties require suck information until award
of contract is made. The Postal Service reserves the right to reject
