SP -- REQUEST FOR COMMENT AND NOTICE OF VENDOR CONFERENCE NOTIFICATION OF REQUEST FOR COMMENT AND VENDOR CONFERENCE -- The Bureau of the Census, Procurement Office, FB#3, Room 1541, Washington, DC 20233. The Bureau of the Census (BoC) wishes to inform and solicit input from the vendor community regarding our current activities on the Data Capture Services Contract (DCSC). The BoC will make various sections of an RFP available for comment starting May 2. The sections can be accessed at the following World Wide Web address: http://www.census.gov/dcsc/www/. Paper copies may be obtained by requesting in writing to the above address or by fax at 301/457-1785. No telephone requests will be honored. The Government would like comments provided on a 3.5 inch floppy disk in WordPerfect 6.1 format no later than June 9, 1997. Please address any comments to Ms. Frances Toole at the above address. The BoC will present requirements-to-date based on Year 2000 Census processing plans and address all vendor questions received by June 9th.The BoC is also extending an invitation to the vendor community to attend its vendor conference. This conference, scheduled for June 26, 1997, is for information dissemination purposes in preparation for a future acquisition (DCSC) of facilities, staff, and services to process the Year 2000 Decennial Census forms. The RFP is currently targeted for release on or about August 1, 1997. The BoC's current plans (DCSC) include a need for a contractor to provide facilities, staff, management, and administration to process 1-1.5 billion pages of paper forms during a 100-day period. The Contractor will use digital imaging technology provided by BoC. Attendence at the conference is to be by reservation only. Reservations must be requested in writing to the attention of Ms. Frances Toole at the above address. Please indicate the number of persons that will attend. Seating is limited.
