NIST Contracts Office, Contract@nist.gov. The National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a rotating anode
x-ray source (RAXS), which shall provide a high intensity x-ray beam
for x-ray diffraction studies. It shall include a tube housing which
can be mounted on the horizontal surface of an optical bench providing
two x-ray beams which can be parallel to the table top. The rotation
axis of the anode shall be convertible from being either perpendicular
to the table top, to provide an x-ray beam which is 10 mm high (line
focus), or parallel to it providing a beam which is .5 mm high (point
focus). The anode assembly shall include a copper anode, a direct
drive, ceramic bearings and magnetic seals. Vibrational stability of
the x-ray beam shall be better than 2 microns. Evacuation of the anode
chamber shall be provided by a turbo-molecular pump mounted directly
to the anode housing . The remote generator shall utilize high
frequency technology and provide a total power of 18kW. The operation
of the system shall be by means of an integrated control panel.
Delivery is required within 120 days after award of contract. The FOB
Point shall be Destination, Gaithersburg, Maryland. All responsible
sources may submit an offer. Please fax, mail or e-mail requests for a
solicitation package. (0107) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0293 19970421\66-0002.SOL)
