Effort involves conducting radiographic inspections of approximately 100,000 projectiles in 3 different planes per projectile. Each steel projectile contains approximately 6.5 lbs of composition B high explosive. Radiographic equipment must be capable of detecting both surface and internal cavitation in the explosive casting as small as 1/64 square inch as well as porosity, piping, and cracks.
