COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 16,1997 PSA#182599 -- NETWORKING SESSIONS In our continuing effort to enhance General
Services Administration (GSA) procurement opportunities for small,
small disadvantaged, and women-owned small businesses, the Office of
Enterpise Development (OED), in conjunction with the Federal
Telecommunications Service (FTS), will be conducting three networking
sessions under Solicitation TQA-JA-7-0001. This multi-billion dollar
procurement is for the aquisition of wire and cable services and
support of Federal agencies in the contiguous United States as well as
Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This
event is designed to allow interested major wire and cable firms the
opportunity to meet small, minority, an woman-owned small businesses
that could serve as teaming partners on any subcontracting opportunity
to be let under the aquisition. One of the goals of the GSA is to
increase the procurement dollars and percentages of contracts going to
our Nation's small business community. OED has nationwide
responisibility for the agency's Small business Program and is
aggressively seeking ways to make GSA contracting opportunities more
accessible to small, small disadvantaged, and woman-owned small
businesses. The proposed acquisition will permit the Federal Government
to satisfy its nationwide wire and cabling needs. It is anticipated
that approximately four prime contracts will be awarded and numerous
subcontracting opportunities will exist und the prime contracts. The
