COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 14,1997 PSA#1823VEHICLE TECHNOLOGIES CONFERENCE This year's theme is " Technologies for
Future Ground Scouts". The United States and the United Kingdom could
spend over $3 billion over the next 15 years to research, develop and
field a cooperative Future Scout and Cavalry System(FSCS)/ Tactical
Reconnaissance Armored Combat Equipment Requirement(TRACER). From the
view point of industry and government, both sides of the ocean,
potential bidders can receive a technology update and a view of this
major development from the standpoint of the program managers and
technologists. The focus of this conference is on those technologies
that will be key to a future scout vehicle. While the variety and
lethality of weapons have been growing the advances in electronics,
sensors, communications, and stealth have been dramatic. The
integration of these technologies into a scout vehicle poses a real
challenge. Seeing, but not being seen, on the battlefield of the future
will demand extension of the state-of-the-art beyond today's
boundaries. This conference is verytimely given the agreement of the
Armies of the United States and the United Kingdom that the scout
mission is of highest importance and justifies a bi-lateral program.
The Welcome Address will be given by Major General Edward L. Andrews,
Commanding General, US Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command. The
Keynote Address will be given by Colonel Peter Wall, PM, TRACER from
the United Kingdom. WEB: Click here to learn more about ADPA/NSIA,
