The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Office of Space Science, Office of Life and Microgravity Sciences and Applications, and Office of Space Flight, is releasing for community review and comment a DRAFT Announcement of Opportunity (AO) for the 2001 Mars Surveyor Program Orbiter, Lander, and Rover Missions. Selections of proposals through the final AO are intended to provide science investigations for the Orbiter and Rover Missions, and instrumentation for characterization of the martian radiation and soil/dust environment. Proposers will have a 60-day period in which to respond to the AO. NASA welcomes critical review and comment of this DRAFT AO, which will be available from April 22, 1997 through May 12, 1997, via the World Wide Web URL address http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/oss/osshome.htm. Paper copies may be obtained by written request to the address below. Comments must be submitted no later than May 12, 1997 to the Mars 2001 Program Scientist, Dr. Patricia G.
